LA RESISTENCIA
TEATRE

It was born in October 2019 from the need for union, collaboration and innovation of the artistic community of Balearic Islands.

The emerging company La Resistencia Teatre was born in October 2019 from the need for union, collaboration and innovation of the artistic community of Balearic Islands and more specifically of the island of Menorca, where the company is based.

The group is made up of artists who expand the network in each creation to other collaborators experienced at a local and international level. The inclusion of new languages in its scenic search constitutes an artistic reference in Menorca, working in a self-managed way and contemplating the Sustainability Objectives in the different stages of the creative process.

In 2020, artists from different parts of the world created the company’s first project, under the slogan of collective creation. At that time, the process was threatened by pandemic and preventive measures, but also the stay of the team members. This situation forced to continue working confined in the same residence and subsequently led to the works of the company: the medium-format play “La Resistencia de Lxs Invisibles” and the clown piece “El Descubrimiento & Cheinstein”, both directed by the argentinean Gabriel Rosas.

Under the same direction, and through the organizational tools acquired during the pandemic, in 2022 they premiered “Carrer de Sa Comèdia”, a play awarded the Pedra Viva Award. In 2023, created the work “Todos los Hombres que Somos” directed by Endika Izquierdo, and is currently working on their fifth creation, “Yo soy una Fiesta”, directed by Lola Vera and winner of the ArtJove 2023 contest in the Balearic Islands.

Furthermore, in 2023 they founded the Ibero-American Independent Theater Festival in Menorca (FITIM) with the collaboration of the Teatre Orfeó Mahonès, with an international program and the participation of recognized workshop leaders in the current theater scene.
